I started this project last year in December 2013 because I was inspired by all my teachers.
I remember as a young girl with my dreams and not knowing where I was going with my big dreams. And in my childhood, I was mentored and supported by so many teachers. I was surrounded by great teachers. I was inspired by inspired teachers. And I thank them with all my heart for sharing their love of teaching. Whether it was a math class or a drama class or world religion class or a chemistry class, my teachers loved what they were teaching. They were inspired by what they are sharing. I believe we all have a purpose. And we can also choose our purpose. And for me, I lit up when I express myself through movement, art, writing and creating. Movement for me is an expression, an art form, freedom and a transformation of the body and the mind. And even before I can create and be inspired, I move to the beat of the music, I move to the beating of my heart and I move to the rhythm of my breath. When I was growing up I expressed myself freely with my movement and beaming with my big dreams. Whether I was in math class, drama class, world religion or chemistry class, I was taught by inspired teachers. And even though, I was not really interested in math or science, I was very interested in learning them, because my teachers loved what they were teaching. This part of my life is a huge anchor on how I strengthen and listen to the beating of my heart as I grow older. It is a practice that I continue to sharpen and rediscover as my body and my mind changes as I grow older. I want to share this inspiration to the youth of today, because I want them to remember the spark that lights up their dreams or encourage what they love and that they have someone, a teacher or a mentor, supporting them. I want to encourage them to move and express themselves with their own voices, their art, their writing and to express their creative minds to whatever way that supports their dreams without holding them back. I was once a young girl with big dreams who moves to the beating of my heart and I will always remember my inspired teachers supporting my rhythm. Sometimes we encounter the bitterness, the sourness and the sweetness delights of life. Remember we have a choice and we can choose to stay in the bitter, the sour or the sweet. If we are presented with a delight, be there for it with a little bit of breath, a little bit of awareness and little bit of compassion for yourself. The more we can be there to that experience, the more we can understand the delight we are experiencing. Embrace the treat of the day with a little bit of kindness. Remember we can choose to stay in the bitter, the sour or the sweet. So when we don’t know what kind of treat we are getting for the day, encourage a little bit of smile on your face and face it with a little bit of softness. Remember we can choose to stay in the bitter, the sour or the sweet. I have to say, today is something sweet and I am going to delight in that! |
