The experience is short, sweet and unforgettable.

Everywhere I go, I reach inside my pocket and remember my pebble practice of mindfulness. I began this pebble practice of awareness when I was in Grade 3. It was one of my fondest memories before declaiming in front of the crowd. I was wearing my green uniform at St. John's Academy. I was close to the school's bookstore in front of the mini garden where the Sacred Heart was resting. I held my pebble on my right hand inside my pocket, remembering the poem that I was going to share to my friends and teachers. It was the art of holding a piece of nature on the palm of my hand for a couple of minutes to calm my nerves down. This photo reminds of that practice. This time, it's the capture of that moment in nature that helps me to remember that I am seeing a piece of nature for a couple of minutes to calm me down. The experience is short, sweet and unforgettable. Photo taken in Blow Hole, Haida Gwaii, December 2013 by Rose Cortez
