Dear Winter Solstice, There comes a time when we hold hands, then we let go. There comes a time when we glitter and shine, then we humble and bow down. There comes a time when our hearts are so full of love, then we experience real death from a family member. There comes a time when things are falling into place, then things are falling apart. There comes a time when we love and give so much, then we don't receive that love. There comes a time when you've got to heal and retreat, then the universe will send an eagle right at your door. There comes a time when you trust everyone, then you're betrayed by one. There comes a time when angels are flying over you, then you see them and their human forms. There comes time when you've got to wait and be patient, then the tides of the ocean will push your forward. There comes a time to blow steam, then your favourite tree will shed its leaf and float right down. All this time, the many truths are sharing their wisdoms. And as I tune in...I listen. I give thanks to the many many many times that each soul from a tree, mountain, an ocean and someone has shared his or her Truths with me. We are sharing each other's gifts and authenticities. We are beginning to See and Real Seeing. In good times and bad times, we are Holding Space for each other. True gifts of wisdom... Of creative collaboration of Seeing and Being. Of Listening with our Soulful Eyes and Ears. Of Respect and Integrity with each other's Gifts. Every time I am learning and listening. With love and Fresssh Eyes. So much gratitude for all this Time. by: Rose Cortez Photo taken in Vancity 2014 "Winter Time". A Rose Made of Galaxies - a Picture from Hubble taken on December 17, 2010. Synchronicity right here. Today's Synergy...On 17th December, 497 BC, the first Saturnalia festival was celebrated - the date marking the dedication anniversary of the Temple to Saturn. The Saturnalia festival paid tribute to Saturn, the agricultural God of Sowing and was associated with the Renewal of Light and the Coming of the New Year.

Be infinitessimal under that sky, a creature even the sailing hawk misses, a wraith among the rocks where the mist parts slowly. Recall the way mere mortals are overwhelmed by circumstance, how great reputations dissolve with infirmity and how you, in particular, live a hairsbreadth from losing everyone you hold dear. Then, look back down the path to the north, the way you came, as if seeing your entire past and then south over the hazy blue coast as if present to a broad future. Remember the way you are all possibilities you can see and how you live best as an appreciator of horizons, whether you reach them or not. Admit that once you have got up from your chair and opened the door, once you have walked out into the clean air toward that edge and taken the path up high beyond the ordinary, you have become the privileged and the pilgrim, the one who will tell the story and the one, coming back from the mountain, who helped to make it. -- David Whyte Thank you Sweet Jennifer Kerr for sharing this with me. You're a Warrior and sending you lots love vibes your way! Everywhere I go, I reach inside my pocket and remember my pebble practice of mindfulness. I began this pebble practice of awareness when I was in Grade 3. It was one of my fondest memories before declaiming in front of the crowd. I was wearing my green uniform at St. John's Academy. I was close to the school's bookstore in front of the mini garden where the Sacred Heart was resting. I held my pebble on my right hand inside my pocket, remembering the poem that I was going to share to my friends and teachers. It was the art of holding a piece of nature on the palm of my hand for a couple of minutes to calm my nerves down. This photo reminds of that practice. This time, it's the capture of that moment in nature that helps me to remember that I am seeing a piece of nature for a couple of minutes to calm me down. The experience is short, sweet and unforgettable. Photo taken in Blow Hole, Haida Gwaii, December 2013 by Rose Cortez |
