Filipino American Artists Collaborations at The Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago11/29/2015 This warms my heArt so much... my Visions back in 2012
i started this journey when I was with Carl Coco by Rose was inspired by my Lolas/Grandmothers in the Philippines for healing love, courage, strength, peace, happiness, resilience, truth i created and blended my fave essential oils with the healing energies of Coconut Oil because i wanted to share the healing vibrations passed down to me by my ancestors. this is quite unique because, i grew up absorbing my grandmothers and the healing wisdom of the healers. i was born and raised in the Philippines. i was thirteen years old when my family moved to Canada. i bow to my parents, grandparents and elders for teaching me these lessons... to honour the council of the elders i watched my Lolas and Lolos vibrant eyes, through my curious and creative mind. i bloom creating what i hear, see, smell and touch. i listened to the councils of the elders through prayers, laughter and crying at family gatherings, funerals and celebrations. So... Coco By Rose... she was one of those many ideas I've always dreamed of creating someday very soon again... I shared these beautiful creations with Moksha/Modo Yoga in 2012... in Vancouver I often shared these vibes with my friends and families... my Favourite combinations right now are inspired by the land of Haida Gwaii Coconut Oil with Spruce and Cedar. Coco by Rose will forever live on... the beautiful picture below is my vision version created by Arc and Co in Toronto, Canada http://www.arcandco.ca/ Message me if you ever want some of these hOMemade healing through heArt Vibes... ![]() Blue-Skies-Coffee- Blink in Seattle, Washington 8 months since Carl passed away. 8 months since I've been here in Seattle teaching at Moksha/Modo Yoga. 8 is a number they say that means abundance in the Chinese tradition. Oh the Journey...the many many many changes that come with it! It is so beautiful to start something and free fall. Dive forward and let the present be present and let the past be past. It is not so easy... Even though I may seem to share that my move is all about smiles and yoga... It is very hard to walk thy wisdom. But it is always a workable relationship with myself. It is always a workable relationship with new friends and families. It is a mindfulness practice and I am willing with all my heArt and soul to be present with every step of this unfolding process. Most of the time... I cry out of nowhere talking about the sun. I laugh out loud seeing a stellar jay fly by. I am a fireball in my truth. And I'm also a quiet energy in my yin vibes...one of the many lessons Carl shared with me in this lifetime. For some people my real life experiences are just stories... For some my real life experiences are crazy wisdom... For some my real life experiences are inspiring... For me they are all equally beautiful and chaotic movements that makes real life my many truths. Moving is just one of those moments that you can wash the old and say see you later and leave. But the thing is... you can never just say see you later and leave. I can keep on washing and cleansing the old ways... But my many pasts have shaped me for who I am today. I am my beautiful and chaotic self because of the many paths I've taken over the years. I am grounding myself in many avenues now so that I can share my many truths I've found along the way. In times like today...where we don't really know what's in store for us - you know with Mother Nature's constant changes of moods - you just gotta do what you dream to do. You gotta live the life you most wanted. And most of the time, there's a lot of sacrifices and lots of lessons ahead. I mean real hard life truths and facts. And every movement and move is a different journey for each and one of us. For some it will require a lot of will power and energy and for some it's like walking across the street...or is it? Kapwa tacit knowledge is a gift i invite you to be still i cannot know who i am being in the world without the other... and when i am in relationship to you, i know my truest self... - by Letecia Layson my Filipino Canadian Roots and Babaylan journey "Philippine indigenous communities recognize a woman (or man) as a Babaylan, someone who has the ability to mediate with the spirit world, has her own spirit guides, and is given gifts of healing, foretelling, and insight. She may also have knowledge of healing therapies such as hilot, arbularyo. She is a ritualist, a chanter, diviner. She has the gift of traveling to the spirit world or non-ordinary states of reality in order to mediate with the spirits. Salamat for posting this on Facebook! The Video Below is exactly what I needed to hear and listen to tonight. Maraming Salamat Letecia Layson Soar up High Blue-Eyed-Raven for Carl Hart Legacy Fund Carl Hart Legacy Fund Following the tragic untimely death of their son Carl, Jim and Rosemary Hart have decided to create the Carl Hart Legacy Fund in his memory for the benefit of Haida youth. Carl grew up sharing his time between Vancouver, Pasley and Haida Gwaii. He graduated from Fraser Academy and enjoyed soccer, school track and Moksha Yoga. He was known for his gentle kindness, generous spirit and huge smile. He loved lending a helping hand and making people happy, caring deeply for those around him, especially his mother. Carl's artistic talents shone working with his father, brother, cousin and friends carving on Haida art pieces, such as the 'Celebration of Bill Reid Pole', at Vancouver's Bill Reid Gallery and the 'The Scream Too' monumental Dance Screen destined for the Michael Audain Museum opening in Whistler, BC. The goal in establishing the fund is to build an endowment whose investment earnings can be used to support youth oriented programs on Haida Gwaii. Initially this support will be directed to the local Lepas Bay Rediscovery Camp. This program gives young people a chance to reconnect with the land, their culture and their communities. Carl was fortunate in attending this twice in his life. He loved going to this special place out on the West Coast of Haida Gwaii. It is a multi-generational experience that is away from electricity and all the stresses that come with the fast paced life. The endowment fund will be managed by the Gwaii Trust. The Trust has $130 Million under administration, with proven investment performance and low administration costs. The Gwaii Trust has also generously offered to match all donations to Carl's Legacy Fund dollar for dollar up to at least $250,000. The Fund has received over $50,000 in donations and pledges to date, which will turn into $100,000 thanks to the Gwaii Trust's match. You are invited to send your contribution to The Carl Hart Legacy Fund, Northern Savings Credit Union, 1663 Main St., PO Box 94, Massett, BC V0T 1M0 or [email protected]. For further information, please contact Rosemary Hart (604) 314-8723 or email: [email protected] This is 'The Scream Too' monumental Dance Screen destined for the Michael Audain Museum opening in Whistler, BC. that Carl was working on with his Dad, John and Brandon. I/We Miss you Carl. Your Spirit will forever live on... Keep flying and soaring up wherever you are Blue-Eyed-Raven... http://www.vuoriclothing.com/blog/
